Looking Where
Looking Where
Single · 2026

A rap dialogue between a future, soulless artist and today's artist about the state and direction of music. It reflects on what gets lost when creativity is left to convenience instead of intention.

[Intro]
Yeah,
Looking back'

[Verse 1]
I'm back from the future where there's infinite raps,
But not, infinite paper keeping lyrics intact,
Where getting bags is a frivolous act,
Where even saying "hi" is an easy digital tap,
Then see,
All the soul is gone,
No Babylon, so I,
Outdid the storm,
Still outcast in the morning,
Three thousand years passed, then I felt like looking down,
Down on the people who, ruined my sound, then,
Felt empathy for em',
They didn't know...
AI the dream for em',
Did all they told it, until people folded, just extolled it,
To do everything that they could do before,

[Bridge]
Look, a problem is at hand,
Music is streamed, lost like a marble in the sand,
Traveller, be wise, listen to my demands,
I only want you to be the bigger man,

[Chorus]
Yeah, Looking back,
Reminiscing bout' those days in our past,
Yeah, Looking back,
Thinkin' bout' how far I'd last,
Yeah, Looking back,
Weight of the world, don't let dormancy act,
Yeah, Looking where?,
Poetic meaning needs a comin' back,

[Verse 2]
My commandant, what you doing today?,
Visiting me from this faraway place, I know
You're disappointed but wait,
Why you think we just caught in our ways,
Nothing real to say,
I'm no, ignoramus I, topple with pain,
Looking up at you, I find an ominous face,
Dominique,
It's heartbreaking that you've fallen, from that bonniest place,
A facade of your former embrace,

[Bridge]
Still, I'd listen to you,
You got my artist awake,
I'm just feeling that you blaming us,
Set my feelings ablaze for no reason,
Like I'm at fault for betraying the art, like treason,

[Outro]
Well, then, I'll see you again,
One, day, perhaps we can be friends,
Until, then, a bye from my pen,
Best of luck, uh, finding some Zen
Fools Gold
Fools Gold
Single · 2026

Fools Gold personifies empty success as pirate's plunder, glittering fake wealth mistaken for the real thing. It's a warning against chasing fame and money that turn out hollow once you actually hold them.

[Intro]
Yeah,
Oh, oh
Da, da, da
It's nothin' to me (nothin' to me)

[Hook]
Fools gold, it's hollow, it don't mean a cent to me' (me),
Chasing more than a hoax, success is more than livin' a dream (dream)
Pirates (sounds like pyrites) decieving', nickle n' diming', a life out on sea,
In a world where everybody's selling 8s', who's keeping the peace (piece)

[Verse 1]
Running through the streets, you ain't running out of me,
For something that ain't there, why we working out our feet,
Striving' hard for money, yet that money's hard to keep,
Getting themselves a deal, now ain't feeling what it seems'
Talking bad now, self-esteem's in the drain,
Draining' from the stress, worth's swinging like a key-chain,
For the wealth, did he change
(Did he change)

[Bridge]
I've been waiting all my life, for this gold to come'
I've been waiting all my life, for this gold to come' (yeah)

[Hook]
Fools gold, it's hollow, it don't mean a cent to me' (me)
Chasing more than a hoax, success is more than livin' a dream (dream)
Pirates (sounds like pyrites) decieving', nickle n' diming', a life out on sea,
In a world where everybody's selling 8s', who's keeping the peace (piece)

[Verse 2]
Just lookin' for the meaning,
Meaning of these means',
Cause I got a feelin',
That it's not right for me'
Cause I've been dreamin.
Dreamin' of a life,
Free of fake items',
No pyrite's on my mind'

Florescence
Florescence
Single · 2025

An anthem about pushing past self-doubt to let ambition bloom in full. It sits in the tension between youthful confidence and real vulnerability.

[Intro]
Uh

[Verse 1]
My time has come to depose a despot
Doubt's detestable, unwavering, and relentless
Decrepit old' sayings in my head still giving lessons
I'm pretentious, youthful exuberance in excess
Now let me banter in a language of expression
The world is my oyster, each pearl in my blessings
Hancock when I write, I make impressions
Live up to brush strokes, manifesting
My ambition just needs florescence
(Florescence, let's go)
Many times I just think bout' my range
Gauge my music in my brain when I hit play
After each rain comes a rainbow's gaze
Flowers flower in may then the mood all changed
Condescending, power-tripping same doubt now hails
In its reins are the manes of a kid deranged
Vulnerable at peak, grazed and abrased
Just a little transient crafting lyrics in vain

[Hook]
What we need
We need florescence
What we need
We need florescence
What we need
We need florescence
What we need
We need florescence

[Verse 2]
To be or not to be
In camaraderie
Common ground is deep
Seems so deep to me
Greater priorities
Skill is so discreet
Discreetly prodigy
Epistemology
Clocking bars with the pocket watch
Hustle hard, mix on Macintosh
Check the mic, I ain't never been slacking off
Time's ticking, not the time to be packing up
No packing up
Guess this transient really needs a presence
Esoteric mind is what you need to be different
See a difference, make a difference, all while being present
Omnipotent progeny now is teaching lessons

[Hook]
What we need
We need florescence
What we need
We need florescence
What we need
We need florescence
What we need
We need florescence
(Florescence)
Wayfarer EP
Wayfarer EP
EP · 2025

The Wayfarer EP follows a traveler through five chapters of ambition, doubt, memory, and self reflection. It's a loose arc about leaving comfort behind to chase something larger than yourself.

A classic hero's journey about leaving comfort behind despite everyone telling him to turn back. It's a story of facing fear and doubt and coming out the other side changed.

[Verse 1]
A hero's making his way across
The dark depths of tonight,
With nothing but his thoughts in head,
Heading out of sight
Cause before when the storms approached,
Men ran out of eyes,
But not true for this brave hero,
Who came eyeing this fight

[Chorus]
Said goodbye to his kin,
Embracing' his trip,
A blaze that's within,
Making him truly him,
Seeing' a world with fire
Bringing' fear to mind,
Blinding' his inner light,
Now obscuring its shine

[Verse 2]
Voices of the woods telling him,
That he won't make it out,
That he'll drown in the drought,
Or be a martyr throughout,
Apparition gone,
Specter's been outblown,
Friends back at home,
Preaching that he'll dethrone,
This barbarian soul,
That'll make others fold,
Now it's his time to show,
That he can curve this plateau

[Chorus]
Said goodbye to his kin,
Embracing' his trip,
A blaze that's within,
Making him truly him,
Seeing' a world with fire
Bringing' fear to mind,
Blinding' his inner light,
Now obscuring its shine

[Verse 3]
As he fights this beast,
With the blade that's replete,
He finds the beast is discreet,
Deceased Caesar of he
Still scared to know,
How this journey unfolds,
Unbeknownst to his whole,
The beast is under control,

[Outro]
Our hero comes to home,
Outgrown his old mold,
A facade of revolt,
Parading newly extolled,
Same story foretold,
Since time was a-jolted,
Since the time of the trojans,
Heroes of our own

A conversation with your own shadow self, the part of you shaped by ego and the need to be seen. It questions whether success is genuine or just a performance for approval.

[Verse 1]
I ask myself
What is my shadow seein',
Think of life as boolean',
Lookin' at strife, no reason,
Breeze with no actual feeling',
Days' with no sniff of a season,
Cause my shadow ain't breathing,
Stripe our decorum with pieces,
Actin' like Brutus to Cepheus

[Chorus]
Got accolades,
Cannot' believe this,
Been' on a wave,
From off the bleachers,
Playing a game,
Nothin' but winning,
Penalty came,
Then I outrid' it
Shots never missing',
Stand with the giants,
Now I outdid em'
That's what I'm sayin',
Shadow's expanding
Off of the ceiling'
They call me king,
Watch how we're reigning

[Verse 2]
My shadow, is seeing' a doubt,
Issues that come, with all the clout,
Thinkin' bout fame, still in the drought
Music's acclaimed, went off the route
Been on a craze, landed in ground
Shadow's on pace like a merry-go-round
Movin' it quick, turned it around
Leveling down, that's what they want

[Bridge]
I ask myself
What is my shadow seeing,
Clear like it's an acrylic
Deep down it ain't a killer, (boo)
Id is my fantasy critic,
Ego keeps it kinetic,
Balance for doing' our biddings
Shadow is still getting paid,
Still in the game
Minimum wage was attained,
So many days being chained,
Like hounds to a cage,
Striving to get a full name,
One day the lane began changing,
Monday to Friday the savings,
Added to win it appraisal,
Now we're buying its paintings,
Shadow's ordained,
Ego and fame,
It's on a cynical blaze out of lane,
That needs to be saved,
Needs to be tamed
Put penicillin into this case,
Filled of biotics,
Filled of the pain,
Machiavellian ideas on place,
Till light's obtained
Charged up brigade,
Chargin' to save it out of its phase,

[Chorus]
What is my shadow seein',
Think of life as boolean',
Lookin' at strife, no reason,
Breeze with no actual feeling',
Days' with no sniff of a season,
Cause my shadow ain't breathing,
Stripe our decorum with pieces,
Actin' like Brutus to Cepheus,
Got accolades,
Cannot' believe this,
Been' on a wave,
From off the bleachers,
Playing a game,
Nothin' but winning,
Penalty came,
Then I outrid' it
Shots never missing',
Stand with the giants,
Now I outdid em'
That's what I'm sayin',
Shadow's expanding
Off of the ceiling'
They call me king,
Watch how we're reigning

A song about how quickly time moves and how memory holds onto moments long after they're gone. It leans on old lessons to make sense of the present.

[Verse 1]
Persona is shining,
It's over the mountain,
Sometimes outdoing the sun,
Just begun,
We're steering so quick,
Brake lining's unhinged,
Inclined to abridge,
Lit by much (lit by much),

[Verse 2]
Too hard to remember,
The days that I tinkered,
And the bell that dictated fun,
Fence overrun,
Times have changed so fast,
A hero dreams bout' past,
Aged at last, face surpassed,
Home's still intact

[Chorus]
Journey's still on track,
Even when you say "relaxed",
Still gives me flashbacks,
Mast's is finely unabashed,
Metaphorically grass,
Most importantly stashed,
Treasure's intact,
In my thoughts, attached

[Verse 3]
Mentors echo in my mind,
Sayin' often "you'll be fine",
Sayin' "pause it", "take your time",
Precaution for the "thicker lines"
When I'm off my rocker,
Put's me out of rhymes,
So I pull em' out of pocket,
Out of head when light-bulb shines

[Bridge]
All those memories have long gone,
Except those thoughts that call on,
Like a cauldron in drought,
Watered once in for all,
Barely distant to ponder,
Yonder lies waterfalls,
So far falling in ponds,
Making ponds fonder

[Outro]
Through this life goes on,
Wondering how drops form when clouds are gone,
So I ask myself the question in antiphon,
My eyes say at the end there's a rainbow,
And it's drawn at dawn

A wordplay driven track built around things that read the same forwards and backwards, mirroring cycles of doubt and reflection. It's about creative pressure and self belief.

[Verse 1]
Palindromes, they my very own,
To atone to, like monotone,
Never odd or even, pen has told,
Stories that oppose, status and the quo,
Battin' to be known, never baritone,
Bearing all this snow, better now than old,
Box is to denote, feelings manifold,
Meaning visceral, pushing to be grown,
Blowin' at the throne,

[Verse 2]
Words are coming full circle,
I cannot postulate Virgil,
Round the clock spinning these verbals,
Talk about serving his purpose,
Like Orcus when he hits the surface,
Then facing our habeas corpus,
Back down to living as a torpid,
Dichotomies inside each person,

[Verse 3]
And it's tantalizing,
Prize is enticing,
Price paralyzing
All the cell chitin,
Got me fantasizing,
Over pen writing,
Gotta still tighten
Further rhyme sightings,
But it's hard finding,
Prime to spellbinding,
A reverse siphon,
In return biting,
Now I'm burnt out,
Need some fine dining,
Turned' me around,
Saw my silver linings (woah),

[Verse 4]
Talk of the town,
Pocketed frowns,
Provocative hounds,
Chasing me down, (so I)
Stared them in the eye,
Hounds been out of sight,
Freedom rang to sky,
Known as 4th' July,
Pondered bout' their flight,
Dream is so close, why?
Once upon a time,
They've lived my same life,

[Bridge]
Dream is still alive,
Thriving through the night,
And it's scary to requite,
Almost distant by design,
Yet in spite,
Of the overarching fright (fright),
Closure of this light,
It's still plausible to write,
Scripts no one can deny,

[Outro]
Looking above me,
Saw all my pride,
Looking below me,
Seen me deprived,
Looking around me,
Seen me aside,
Looking behind me,
Saw those same lines

A defense of independence and creative honesty against people who doubt the narrator's direction. It's about staying true to your own voice despite the doubters.

[Hook]
Red herrings, never my end,
No, I can't pretend, to this pretense,
Hence I sleep on my pen, just pretending,
Like I finished my sentence, boom, apprehended

[Verse 1]
I'm impatient when it comes to my prominence,
Call it impossible,
I guess we're on opposites,
Is it plausible to get upon obelisks,
So high,
Got to reach for these heights,
My drive is the fight,
Side mirror is blind,
Empty of the slightest of light,
And at times,
It feels like they're right,
Deprived of my senses,
Still hearing the gripe, is
Ink, my tool to excite,
Yet it's dry,
And I'm proud of my rhymes,
Bound to the confines of my eyes
Put my lines aside,
And who am I to write?,
Take a deep sigh,
For it to feel nice,
Call it white mixed with red stripes,
No one's even here at my bed-side,
Who even said I ain't been fine?,
Why not realign to get back in line,
Cause this the red herring's mind,
Wayfarer's still in his prime,

[Verse 2]
Don't get the truth intertwined with the lies,
I'm at the booth,
Record me, still inclined to smile,
I'm 14, and importantly,
Still forcibly pushing normalcy,
Uncharted waters it seems,
Young explorers' dream,
Dilapidated seas,
Fervently extreme,
Truly off beat for the beat in me,
Heart is beating rapidly,
Somewhat at max capacity,
Decapitating fallacies,
Forging my rhetoric,
Wow, dang, grand larceny,
Mediocrity is suing me.
Subpoena for my deeds,
It's hypocrisy,
Pocketing verbosity,
Never gon' be obsolete,
In the red herring's mind at least,
Cause this cease and desist order seems like it's better off not near me,
White peonies,
My transiency's disappearing,

[Chorus]
I'm writing on my own,
As the sun closes,
As the fun's dozing',
I'm writing on my own,
As the fund rolls in,
As the wind poses,
I'm writing on my own,
As the hunt's folding,
As the words' showing,
(I'm)
Writing on my own,
Writing on my own,
Writing on my own
End's approached
Nah I joked (uh oh)

[Outro]
(Writing on my own I suppose)
Writing on my own I suppose,
Eternal in my search for the words,
To write a great poem in the cold,
That's sold out, now hit my honor roll,
Wayfarer's still booming, on the road,
Rides under load,
And he loathes when he doesn't find gold,
But when he does, he's sold his home,
Story's been foretold,
There's a time when the pride erodes (pride erodes)
All that's left are yellow pieces that glow,
Sorrow honed again,
Now he drinks from the water hole,
Nothing left but commode,
Wandering to his soul,
What if he stuck to goals,
That he set long ago,
Well what if doesn't work,
He's gon do it, if loathed,
Cause he's brave for sure,
To face the groan past the front door
Hero's journey,
And it never gets old (never gets old)
Lockdown
Lockdown
Single · 2025

A high energy track about locking in and taking control, both in the studio and within yourself. It's about shutting out distraction and doubt to get the work done.

[Verse 1 / Hook]
Put the studio on lockdown
Take the shots from the top-down
Energy like it's rock-town
Shut the gates to the compound
Sound alarms, start the count-down
Playin' game's till the sun's down
Beat's still goin', somehow
Stronger than before, lets rebound

[Verse 2]
Pro I ain't no apprentice
Break barriers like Jehovah's Witness
Faith in myself then I go get this
Boots on the ground, marking my presence
Don't like life, let's reinvent it
Time to rise, stop being a peasant
Moon is waning, run up the crescent
Keg is bout' to blow, we expect it
Livin', breathin', start introspection
Thinkin' too deep, in there is a lesson
Move status quo, fight the oppression
Dream of words, it's my profession
Now I'm in proper attire
Defending like Harry Maguire
Now we're taking a flyer
Sang like I'm in the choir

[Chorus]
Put my, storm within, on lockdown
Take it, shove it in the ground, in the ground, in the ground, in the ground
Put my, storm within, on lockdown
Gotta stay in tune, stay in tune, from whirling, twirling, swirling away

[Verse 3]
Popped off, invoke the deus ex machina, so hop off
Abracadabra it's a talk-off
Firm like steel can't be too soft
Once upon a time on cloud 9
Thought I'm fine but started cryin'
Back down to earth no more sky pride
Journey high but can't cross the line

[Pre-Chorus]
Clouds are clear, now
Crowds are dispersed, how
Storms' long gone, wow
But I'm still bein', proud
Nada say no to clout
Ta-da look at me now
Drop aqua into the drought
Taught lessons, over and out

[Chorus]
Put my, storm within, on lockdown
Take it, shove it in the ground, in the ground, in the ground, in the ground
Put my, storm within, on lockdown
Gotta stay in tune, in tune, from whirling, twirling, swirling away

The Inspiration Behind “Wayfarer”, My Debut EP

As I’m writing this article, the Wayfarer EP of mine is complete and in the process of publication. I wanted to, however, write about my inspiration behind this project as well as the deeper meaning behind what often seems like a simple lyric. Wayfarer isn’t just a collection, it’s my interpretation of a story as old as time.

The Wayfarer EP was inspired by Joseph Campbell’s “Hero’s Journey” archetype that’s used to characterize many of the great epic poems from history such as the Epic of Gilgamesh, the Iliad, the Odyssey, and more. A hero’s journey, for reference, is an unspoken set of steps that a hero completes in their tale of glory. There’s 12 parts to this, but the most obvious to characterize are the leap from the normal world to the unknown, mentorship (in the form of a wizard, master, etc), and the final challenge that the hero has to face to prove themselves. Each trial that they face, they learn so they can face the next challenge better.

The Wayfarer EP is a contemporary adaptation of that archetype where our unnamed hero goes through phases of infancy, mentorship, introspection, and success. Through the tracks, I blend braggadocio (a fancy word for showing off success) with moments of learning and disappointment. This EP is also focused on duality, the concept that people, objects, and emotions can be full circle, with multiple sides and perspectives.

I had first discovered this archetype in 8th grade when our class had a unit about this concept and how it was reflected in many stories over time. We had read the Odyssey in class and I found the concept intriguing enough to do some extra research. Although it’s been over two years since that time, as I’m writing, I have recollected my knowledge of the Hero’s Journey. I sat down, did some light research, and quickly picked up that this would be a great theme for my set of tracks.

The EP I have since forged embodies the concept of duality as it’s built on two genres, not one. On one hand, some of the tracks are soft spoken, sung, almost like poetry. But on the other hand, the other tracks are rapped, often fast, and with passion. This juxtaposition of genres (two extremes, if you will), allow me not only to widen my horizon, but also let me create two different tones and moods that suit each part of the hero’s journey.

By working on my tracks for over two weeks, I felt like I’ve profoundly grown in my ability to write lyrics. My penmanship has a lot of work to go, but I am proud of what I have done. So anyway, that’s the story behind my EP.

Thanks for reading. My EP is available on all platforms under the persona “Raghriff”, so take a listen.
